Joseph Young's 1920s city
Joseph Young laid out Hollywood in the 1920s with circles, wide boulevards and a mix of Mission and Mediterranean homes, many of which still stand near downtown and Young Circle. A lot of them have been through several owners' worth of partial renovations. It's common to open a wall and find a newer kitchen tied into a 1920s drain line, or a replaced roof deck over original rafters.
