Ian's surge pushed the Caloosahatchee far above normal, and riverfront homes and streets along the McGregor corridor flooded, some with several feet of brackish water. Historic homes near downtown
The older neighborhoods off McGregor near downtown include homes from the 1920s through the 1950s, some on raised foundations with plumbing under the floor. Original cast iron drains and galvanized supply lines, patched over the decades, are common failure points.
